Great news for Samsung phone and tablet users.

Recently, Samsung made a commitment to support 8 years for business tablets, 7 years for business phones.

With the launch of the Galaxy S24 series, Samsung has extended software support for select phones to 7 years (both OS updates and security patches). Now, the company has decided to provide even longer support for some of its Enterprise Edition products.

Samsung Enterprise tablets launching in 2024 and beyond will receive eight years of software support.

Specifically, the Korean technology giant announced that Enterprise tablets launched in 2024 and later will receive 8 years of support. Currently, this only covers the Galaxy Tab Active 5, which was launched this past January.

For Enterprise phones like the Galaxy Xcover 7, Samsung will offer 7 years of support, just like the Galaxy S24 series for general consumers. Previously, the Galaxy Tab Active and Galaxy Xcover only offered 4 operating system updates and 5 years of security support.

This news was shared on LinkedIn by a Samsung executive. Technology experts are still unclear whether this will affect popular tablet computers or not. Currently, the Galaxy S series has had 7 years of software updates like the Galaxy Xcover series.

The problem lies in tablets, even high-end models like the Galaxy Tab S9 series only receive 4 operating system updates and 5 years of patches. The same situation also happens with the Galaxy S 2023 phones. Experts expect that the Galaxy Tab S10 series (expected to launch later this year) will also be upgraded to up to 7 years of operating system.
