How smart are tech CEOs using AI?

The "bosses" of technology corporations such as Mark Zuckerberg, Sundar Pichai, and Jensen Huang all have different ways of taking advantage of AI.

Since OpenAI launched ChatGPT in November 2023, everyone is talking about them and testing this new technology in life. The world's most influential business leaders are no exception.

From translating poetry to creating rap songs, here's how executives at Meta, Google, Microsoft, and other major companies have used AI.

Tim Cook, CEO of Apple

The leader of the "Apple House" said he still uses ChatGPT in his personal life. Mr. Cook did not specify how he used AI chatbots. However, he said, he saw their potential after trying them out.

Apple is lagging behind some other Big Tech "giants" on the AI front. The iPhone maker plans to discuss its AI projects during its developer conference in June.

Meta CEO - Mark Zuckerberg

In 2016, "boss" Meta used a personal assistant named Jarvis (similar to the name of the virtual assistant in the movie Iron Man). This AI system controlled the lights, appliances, temperature, music, and security in Zuckerberg's home. The CEO also said that the AI assistant interacted with his phone and computer and could learn new words and concepts.

Meta rolled out Llama-2, OpenAI's large language model equivalent to GPT, in July 2023 to select users. The company then released AI-powered Ray-Ban Smart Glasses and AI chatbots with famous characters. The latest Llama-3 is still under development.

Jensen Huang - CEO of Nvidia

Mr. Jensen Huang said he still uses Perplexity AI "almost every day". In the interview, he gave an example of how Perplexity was used to learn about recent advances in computer-aided drug discovery. He suggests that users should frame the overall topic and ask specific questions for more effective use.

AMD CEO - Lisa Su

Ms. Lisa Su also uses Microsoft's Copilot to "summarize meetings" and "track actions". However, this leader does not think that Microsoft's AI assistant is perfect.

AMD's leader also affirmed: "AI is not very good at writing emails. I don't use this tool for that.”

Microsoft CEO - Satya Nadella

This leader often uses ChatGPT to explain German philosophy and Persian poetry. Nadella said ChatGPT helps him understand complex texts by philosophers like Martin Heidegger.

“I remember my father having difficulty trying to read Heidegger's Philosophy at the age of 40 and I tried thousands of times but failed. But asking ChatGPT or Bing chat to summarize Heidegger is the best way to read Heidegger."

He was also very impressed with the AI chatbot's ability to translate poetry. He even said his favorite prompt was asking ChatGPT to translate Rumi from Urdu to English.

OpenAI CEO and co-founder - Sam Altman

Sam Altman said he used his company's chatbot to translate and write. In August 2023, talking to Bloomberg, Altman affirmed that ChatGPT was the "savior" for translation during his world tour. In three months, he visited countries such as Israel, Jordan, Qatar, UAE, India and South Korea.

Sundar Pichai - CEO of Google

Google's leader said he used language models to talk to his son. He asked LaMDA, one of the search giant's first conversational AI models, to play the planet Pluto to test its capabilities.

He also asked LaMDA for suggestions on what to give on his father's 80th birthday. In response, LaMDA asked him to make a scrapbook. Mr. Pichai affirmed: "LaMDA is not very profound, but it still says a lot and arouses the imagination."

Then, Google launched Remini, the latest language model that can generate text and images using prompt, in December 2023.
