LG Display is having to change its OLED screen supply chain for the iPhone. According to a report from The Elec (Korea), this company will make Novatek company the new DDI chip supplier.
This move is aimed at reducing production costs, especially when both LG Display and Samsung Display - Apple's two leading OLED screen suppliers - are struggling with the challenges of producing screens for the iPhone line. 16 due to the new design with thinner bezels.
Either way, both LG Display and Samsung Display will have to fine-tune their production processes to meet Apple's profit margin targets for the iPhone 16. Previous reports suggest that Apple will use uses a new technology called BRS (Border Reduction Structure) to achieve thin bezels on iPhone 16. It is known that both Samsung Display and LG Display will use this technology. Normally, Apple saves new technology for iPhone Pro models, but BRS technology could be for all four models.
However, previous rumors showed that the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus may not have any changes to the screen, only the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max will have thinner bezels. Rumors also confirm that the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus will have a vertical rear camera setup, different from previous iPhone models - which have a diagonal camera arrangement. This change is expected to allow iPhone 16 models to record spatial video - compatible with Apple Vision Pro glasses.
The iPhone 16 series will launch in September this year. We will continuously update more information about these products in subsequent news articles.
