AI generates tens of millions of images every day, while deepfake scams increase by 2,000%, showing that artificial intelligence is positively and negatively affecting humans.
After ChatGPT became a hit in early 2023, a series of AI-generated models were born, penetrating into everyone's business, work, study, and entertainment activities.
34 Million AI Images Every Day
According to Everypixel's statistics at the end of 2024, AI generates about 34 million images every day, or 1.4 million images per hour, or 23,333 images per minute. If we count from the end of 2022, more than 15 billion AI images have appeared on the Internet, enough to cover the entire surface of the Moon. The most widely used model is Stable Diffusion, but more than 2,000 other AI tools are doing the same job.
71% of images on social media are generated by AI
ArtSmart's statistics for the period 2022-2024 show that 71% of images on social media are AI-generated. This rate is 77% in the Asia-Pacific region. 34% of users use AI image generators for entertainment, considering it a creative tool for personal purposes.
"The dominance of AI images has turned social media into a showcase for synthetic creativity. However, it raises questions about authenticity in the digital space," said Bernard Marr, a famous British technology expert and social media influencer.
Deepfake fraud increased by more than 2,000%
According to a report released by Norwegian digital identity company Signicat in February, fraud involving deepfakes increased by 2,137% over the past three years. Before 2022, the increase was only 0.01%. Security experts ranked deepfakes as one of the three most common fraud methods in the period 2022-2024.
Deepfake fraud is considered a worrying downside of AI, prompting global regulators to introduce laws to force businesses and individuals to use AI responsibly.
$320 billion in AI development by 2025
According to Business Insider, major technology companies such as Microsoft, Google, Apple, Amazon, Meta and OpenAI will invest $320 billion in AI models this year alone, which is larger than the GDP of many countries. This scale shows that the AI race has become a vital factor when technology companies consider artificial intelligence as the key to future market position and revenue growth.
The AI services market reach $243 billion this year.
Statista statistics show that the AI services market will achieve a compound annual growth rate of 28% and reach a value of $826.7 billion by 2030. This year alone, the market is estimated to reach $243 billion.
25% of businesses deploy an AI Agent
Deloitte Global predicts that 25% of businesses will deploy AI Agents this year. AI Agent is a system or software that performs a series of tasks on behalf of humans, by designing its own task execution order and leveraging available tools. The shift to AI Agent marks an evolution beyond simple task automation.
30% of new smartphones will integrate generative AI this year
Also, according to the 2025 trends report by Deloitte Global, 30% of smartphones launched in 2025 will be equipped with the ability to run AI models locally. The rate on laptops is higher at 50%.
The shift of AI model execution from the cloud to personal devices promises to transform the mobile experience, as well as partly address performance and privacy limitations.
