John Cena, the wrestling champion and actor in the Fast and Furious films 9 and 10, had a hair transplant last year after fans criticized him for his baldness.
The 48-year-old star first opened up about the beauty procedure in an interview on April 21, a day after he won the championship at WrestleMania 41. "Thank you for bullying me so much that I had to get a hair transplant," John Cena said on The Pat McAfee Show on April 21. "You guys made fun of me mercilessly for a genetic problem that I had no control over, like, 'You're not very good-looking in real life,' 'The man with the bald patch.' It was so unfair. A lot of the teasing made me feel small and ashamed."
John Cena said people's comments motivated him to get a hair transplant in November 2024. The doctor took hair from both sides of his head to transplant onto the bald spot on top. Currently, his hair is still thin, but the actor hopes that in time, "it will grow beautifully and long and bouncy."
"There's nothing to be ashamed of. I have a problem. I'm going to fix it," he commented on the hair transplant, noting that baldness is a common condition among men.
While his hair care is going well, John Cena admitted that another problem is that he can't grow a beard. "I haven't shaved in 10 years," John said, joking that he might only be able to grow a mustache if he had his hair cut from the top of his head.
John Cena was born on April 23, 1977, and is an American professional wrestler, actor, and author. He is best known for his career in WWE, where he has won 17 world championships, surpassing the previous record held by Ric Flair. Outside of wrestling, Cena has appeared in films such as The Suicide Squad, F9: The Fast Saga (2021), and Fast X (2023). In the two Fast & Furious movies, he made his mark as Jakob Toretto, the younger brother of Dominic Toretto (played by Vin Diesel).
John is also the author of many best-selling books for children and adults. The American star is also actively involved in volunteer activities for the Make-A-Wish organization. The actor currently lives with his second wife, engineer Shay Shariatzadeh, and has no children.
