Hyptec HL, the new electric SUV impresses with a range of 1,200 km and a luxurious, aristocratic design like Tesla and BMW.
In the context of increasingly fierce car racing and the booming large SUV market in China, the Hyptec HL model has appeared as an impressive "rookie", making big names like Tesla, BYD, and BMW wary. Hyptec HL has two versions: fully electric (EV) and extended hybrid (EREV), with a maximum range of up to 1,200 km and a price of 269,800 to 319,800 yuan.
This SUV is likened to a "land yacht" with a strong, square but still sophisticated design. The crystal headlights and radiator grille with integrated shaped lights create unique lighting effects, along with four ocean-style exterior paint colors, making the car stand out as luxurious. With a length of 5,126 mm and a wheelbase of more than 3 meters, the interior space of the Hyptec HL is almost on par with luxury SUVs such as the BMW X7 or Mercedes GLS.
The highlight of the Hyptec HL lies not only in its design but also in its performance and technology. The EV version uses a large-capacity lithium battery with two options of 95.9 kWh and 108.35 kWh, for a range of 670 to 750 km. Meanwhile, the EREV version uses a hybrid powertrain with a 60.33 kWh CATL Freevoy battery and a 1.5L gasoline engine for charging only, allowing the car to travel 350 km on electricity and a total of up to 1,200 km for each full charge of gasoline and charging. The average power consumption is only 15.8 - 15.9 kWh/100 km, an impressive figure for a large SUV.
Both versions are equipped with an 800V super-fast charging platform, allowing charging from 30% to 80% in just 15 minutes for the standard RWD versions, and just 10 minutes for the higher versions. In terms of performance, the rear-wheel drive EV version has an output of 250 kW (335 hp) and accelerates from 0–100 km/h in 6.5 seconds, while the AWD version has a larger total output and takes just 4.5 seconds to reach this speed. The EREV version is slightly less powerful with an acceleration time of 7.5 seconds, but it makes up for it with superior range.
Inside the cockpit, the Hyptec HL is equipped with a series of high-end technologies, including the ADiGO 6.0 intelligent operating system, Snapdragon 8295P chip and DeepSeek-R1 artificial intelligence, allowing natural voice interaction. The 17.3-inch 3K resolution center screen, 27-inch large HUD, 8.8-inch LCD dashboard, and ceiling screen for the rear seats, create an unprecedented comfortable space in this price range.
The second row of seats is designed to NASA’s “zero gravity” standards, with 12-way power adjustment and 18-point hot stone massage. The Hyptec HL also features an arsenal of driver assistance equipment, including 1 lidar, 3 mm-wave radars, 11 cameras, and 12 ultrasonic sensors, allowing the car to park itself and move in tight spaces without the need for high-resolution maps.
Although it has only been on sale in China, the Hyptec HL has quickly attracted global attention thanks to its positioning of “high technology – long range – luxurious design” at a price only half that of its European competitors. This model is considered a direct competitor to the Li Auto L7, BYD Tang EV, Nio ES6, and even the Mercedes EQE SUV or BMW iX. With the ability to run 1,200 km of the EREV version, the Hyptec HL is not only an electric car, but also a strong statement from GAC that they are ready to compete on equal terms in the global market.
