Vivo X200 Ultra to launch with unique 200MP fourth camera, promises to take mobile photography to the next level thanks to partnership with ZEISS.
Earlier this week, Huang Tao, Vice President of Product at Vivo, revealed an interesting piece of information about the upcoming X200 Ultra smartphone: it will be equipped with a secret fourth camera. While the device already has three cameras, there is speculation that there will be an external accessory to enhance the photography capabilities.
Recently, Vivo Product Director Han Boxiao officially confirmed this rumor. The Vivo X200 Ultra's fourth camera is an independent super telephoto lens, developed in collaboration with ZEISS. Branded as ZEISS Blue Label, the lens features a 200-megapixel sensor with a focal length of 200mm and an aperture of f/2.3, enabling up to 8.7x optical zoom and enhancing mobile photography capabilities.
The lens is designed with a 3-group, 13-element Kepler-style structure, using high-transmittance glass elements to maximize clarity and precision. It also supports RMSC technology, allowing the second zoom stage to achieve an 800mm (35x) equivalent zoom and up to 1600mm (70x) digital zoom with image quality comparable to traditional 30x systems.
In addition to the external lens, the Vivo X200 Ultra is also equipped with a powerful internal camera system, including a 50MP Sony LYT-818 (35mm) main sensor, a 50MP LYT-818 (14mm) ultra-wide-angle lens, and a 200MP Samsung HP9 (85mm) periscope telephoto sensor. The device supports 4K 60fps 10-bit Log video recording and 4K 120fps cinematic style. Vivo's internal VS1 and V3+ image chips enhance pre- and post-processing, delivering image quality comparable to a DSLR camera. Notably, the Vivo X200 Ultra also has a physical camera control key, called the Action Button, located on the right side, allowing control of the customizable zoom flash system for professional-style portrait photography.
The external lens is packaged in the Vivo X200 Ultra Photography Kit, which connects to the device via USB Type-C with low latency. The kit includes a 2,300 mAh battery, a retro-style case with a kickstand, a professional shoulder strap, and a dedicated video recording button.
With advanced optics and an external ZEISS lens, the Vivo X200 Ultra promises to be a true professional photography “beast”.
