Canon's lightest, thinnest and smallest RF lens has been launched with many notable features.
Canon has just announced the launch of the RF28mm f/2.8 STM lens, this is the first "pancake" prime product in the company's RF lens line. The lens makes a flat combination with both full-frame and EOS R APS-C cameras, delivering large maximum aperture and good image quality.
The lens is less than 2.5 cm long when shrunk and weighs nearly as much as a bar of soap (about 120g), the RF28mm f/2.8 STM has a slim appearance that is true to the word "pancake".
The image quality of the RF28mm f/2.8 STM is superior to the high-end lenses EF40mm f/2.8 STM and RF50mm f/1.8 STM thanks to its design with a structure of three large-diameter plastic frame aspherical lenses.
The 28mm variable focal length and large f/2.8 aperture are suitable for capturing a variety of subjects with both APS-C and full frame cameras.
On full-frame cameras like the EOS R8 and EOS R6 Mark II, wide-angle lenses can capture landscapes and cityscapes, or portraits with soft backgrounds without making the subject appear small in the frame.
For APS-C cameras like the EOS R50 and EOS R7, the lens provides a standard angle of view equivalent to 45mm on a full-frame camera and can also capture full-length portraits from a distance.
