Honor has just launched the MagicPad 2 tablet with an ultra-thin design, beautiful screen, and another low-cost tablet model.
Honor recently introduced two new Android tablet models at the Magic V3 and Magic Vs3 launch event. The first model is MagicPad 2, equipped with a 12.3-inch OLED screen and Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chipset. The second model is Pad 9 Pro, running the Dimensity 8100 chip aimed at remote learning.
Honor MagicPad 2
According to GSMArena, MagicPad 2 switched to using an OLED panel, which is a major improvement compared to the LCD screen on its predecessor MagicPad 13. This 10-bit panel supports scanning frequency up to 144 Hz, resolution 3,000 x 1,920 pixels (290 ppi) and maximum brightness up to 1,600 nits.
Honor says the screen has 4,320 Hz PWM brightness and the panel equipped with the device is certified by TUV Rheinland to protect eyes from blue light and flicker.
This tablet is only 5.8 mm thin, almost as thin as the 11-inch iPad Pro M4 and smaller in size than the first MagicPad model. However, Honor still retains the 10,050 mAh battery with 66W wired charging support. The device still has a 13 MP main camera and a 9 MP front camera.
MagicPad 2 comes with MagicOS 8.0 based on Android 14, with many AI features powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chipset. Multitasking is supplemented by a number of features, such as handwritten formula recognition, handwriting, geometry, and object recognition.
The product supports Bluetooth 5.3, WiFi 6 and supports the latest stylus pen, Magic Pen 3. It has eight speakers and is certified for IMAX Enhanced audio and video. However, there is no version that supports 5G SIM.
Honor MagicPad 2 comes in 3 colors: white, black and blue. Memory options include 8GB/256GB, 12GB/256GB, 16GB/512GB and 16GB + 1TB special edition. Prices start from 2,899 yuan.
Honor Pad 9 Pro
This is a tablet model aimed at those looking for a low-cost solution to support learning and working on the go.
Honor Pad 9 Pro is an upgraded version of Pad 9 with a brighter and smoother screen. The screen is still a 12.1-inch LCD but now has a 144Hz refresh rate and 2.5K resolution (2,560 x 1,600 pixels).
Interestingly, Honor equips the Pad 9 Pro with two different types of screens - one is a regular LCD screen and the other has a coating on top to protect against blue light and flicker.
Compared to its 12.1-inch predecessor, the Pad 9 Pro is smaller in size, which means the screen border is thinner. Notably, the battery capacity has increased by nearly 20% to 10,050 mAh.
Honor Pad 9 Pro is equipped with MediaTek Dimensity 8100 chipset with 8 or 12 GB RAM and 256 GB internal memory. The tablet runs on the Magic OS 8.0 interface, supports the new Honor Magic Pen 3 stylus, and has an optional keyboard accessory.
Honor Pad 9 Pro comes in 2 colors: gray and blue, starting at 2,199 yuan for the standard version. The screen version with additional protective coating is 200 yuan more expensive.
