In contrast to the strong development trend of flip phones, Apple is expected to launch its first clamshell foldable phone in 2026, according to CultofMac. The move comes amid slowing iPhone sales and Apple facing increasingly fierce competition from rivals.
If this information is correct, the foldable phone market this year will mainly see competition between Korean and Chinese companies. Samsung is expected to launch the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Galaxy Z Fold 7 this summer, with many improvements in the cooling system and component durability. The Z Flip 7 is said to have a maximum screen brightness of up to 2,600 nits, but only uses the Exynos 2500 chip, while the Z Fold 7 will be equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip.
Xiaomi is also not out of this race with the Mix Flip 2 model, expected to launch in the second quarter of 2025. This product promises to have many valuable upgrades, including the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Extreme Edition chip, IPX8 water resistance and 50W wireless charging. Finally, the Honor Magic V Flip 2 is also expected to launch in the middle of this year, with battery upgrades and a thinner and lighter design than the previous generation. Although information about this product is limited, the Magic V Flip 2's battery is expected to reach 4,800 mAh, an impressive number for a compact folding phone.
