Isabella's mother is Charlotte Brosnan - the stepchild from Cassandra's first marriage to her ex-husband, film producer Dermot Harris - who was adopted by Pierce Brosnan as a child and loved like her own child.
Isabella Smith's grandmother and mother both died of ovarian cancer. In 1991, actress Cassandra Harris died at the age of 43, leaving Pierce Brosnan with three young children (two adopted, one biological). In 2013, the couple's daughter Charlotte Brosnan passed away at the age of 42 in London. Pierce Brosnan received the tragic news while filming in Eastern Europe. He wrote: "On June 28, my beloved daughter Charlotte Emily passed away after battling ovarian cancer. She passed away surrounded by her husband Alex, her children Isabella and Lucas, and her brothers Christopher and Sean. Our hearts are heavy with the pain of losing our beautiful daughter."
A year after his adopted daughter's death, the actor gave an emotional speech at the Stand Up To Cancer program at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles to raise awareness about cancer. He said it was painful to see the women he loved so much struggling with extreme pain.
