Barca goalkeeper rumored to be staying in hotel because his wife is having an affair.

Barca goalkeeper Marc-André Ter Stegen is rumored to be staying in a hotel after discovering his wife Daniela Jehle was having an affair with her personal trainer.

Ter Stegen and Daniela Jehle married in 2017 after five years of dating and have two children. Last week, the Barca goalkeeper and his wife announced their split on social media.

Goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen and his wife when they were still together.

According to Catalunya Radio, journalist Juliana Canet believes that the reason for the split was that Ter Stegen discovered his wife was having an affair with her personal trainer. Canet said that Ter Stegen and Daniela had been living separately for two months. The German goalkeeper is said to be staying at the five-star Hyatt hotel in Barcelona, while his wife is still living in the family home.

Canet said that the 32-year-old used the excuse of renovating the villa the couple bought last summer to justify staying at the hotel. El Nacional added that Daniela had been working with two personal trainers at Edan Studios in Barcelona, owned by Robert Lewandowski's wife, Anna.

However, Ter Stegen has criticized Catalunya Radio and the 3Cat Group for "spreading fake news and invading privacy". On social media, he said: "I am shocked and disappointed by the poor management, lack of leadership and control of Catalunya Radio & 3Cat Group in spreading fake news and invading privacy."

He continued: "Journalists Juliana Canet, Roger Crandell and Marta Montaner are liars who spread fake news, publicly and badly insulting my wife, Daniela, and her reputation. There was no affair between Daniela. There was no third party involved. The truth is that Dani and I decided to separate amicably and remain in contact. It is unacceptable that the government's main media outlets spread this, causing Daniela to be falsely accused and personally attacked. The damage is irreparable."

In a joint statement on social media last week, Ter Stegen and Daniela said they were focused on what was best for their two children, Ben, 5, and Tom, 1: "After careful consideration, Dani and I have decided to separate. This has not been an easy decision, but we both believe it is the best move. Our shared focus is to do what is best for our children, ensuring they continue to have a loving and stable environment. We are committed to continuing to work together as parents and to treating each other with the same respect and dignity as we have always done. During this personal time, we ask for your understanding and respect for our privacy, especially that of our children." Ter Stegen has been out of football since September after completely rupturing the patellar ligament in his right knee. He has recently shared pictures showing that he is back in training and could be close to returning to the pitch.
