HMD announces super unique headphones that can wirelessly charge smartphones.

At MWC 2025, Finnish company HMD Global introduced a new pair of wireless headphones called HMD Amped Buds.

This product stands out with its unique design that promises to bring a premium audio experience along with a notable utility feature that other manufacturers should refer to.

Unlike most wireless headphones currently on the market, the HMD Amped Buds come with a large rectangular charging case, similar to a wireless power bank. This charging case not only houses the in-ear headphones but also has a USB-C port for charging. Notably, the charging case has a battery capacity of up to 1,600 mAh and supports reverse wireless charging to help users charge their phones in an emergency.

The HMD Amped Buds also come with premium features such as Active Noise Cancellation (ANC), an equalizer in the Android and iOS apps, along with environmental noise cancellation to improve call quality.

However, in testing at MWC 2025, the headphones were not comfortable to wear, with a design that could cause them to fall out of the ears easily when the head moves. Connecting the headphones to the device was also difficult, so it is not possible to evaluate the sound quality.

In addition to the new headphones, HMD also launched the Fusion X1 smartphone line aimed at teenagers through a partnership with Xplora. This product comes with a 4.99 EUR/month Xplora subscription that helps parents control their children's access to the internet and applications. The Fusion X1 has a 108 MP main camera, 5,000 mAh battery, IP54 water resistance and a 3.5 mm headphone jack.

In addition, HMD also introduced three new basic phones, including the HMD 130 Music and 150 Music with classic design, loudspeakers and long battery life, and the HMD 2660 Flip - a flip phone with a 2.8-inch screen.

Currently, HMD has not announced the price and launch date for the new products. This information will be revealed soon by the company.
