iPhone is about to lose its 'trump card' position with Foxconn.

Foxconn, the world’s largest iPhone maker, said AI servers will become the company’s top revenue driver in the next 1-2 years.

At Nvidia’s GTC 2025 event in California, Foxconn Chairman Young Liu said AI is becoming more advanced, driving demand for servers that serve artificial intelligence models. Based on this trend, he believes AI will become Foxconn’s most important driver this year.

Foxconn Chairman Young Liu appeared via video at the Nvidia GTC 2025 event.

The head of Foxconn, the world's largest contract manufacturer, was asked whether server revenue would surpass iPhone production revenue. "It will definitely happen within two years," he told CNA. "If it happens soon, it could happen this year."

At GTC 2025, which is taking place from March 17 to 21, Foxconn also showed off the Nvidia-designed GB300 NVL72 server, which is being touted as a "powerful computing engine for AI factories." Nvidia's new chip will be paired with liquid cooling technology designed and manufactured by Foxconn, with features that optimize the heat dissipation of servers and data centers, ensuring an efficient and stable AI operating environment.

The GB300 is expected to be mass produced by the end of this year. Previously, Foxconn also took on the majority of orders for Nvidia's GB200 AI chip.

"We produce most of the Nvidia systems, not 100%, but the majority," Liu said.

According to him, 2025 marks the beginning of the AI era for Foxconn. The company expects strong revenue growth thanks to mass production of GB200 and GB300 servers in the second half of this year.

According to Reuters, for more than a decade, the iPhone has been Foxconn's largest product line and the most revenue-generating product line. The company has also invested heavily in factories to assemble smartphones and Apple products, even creating an "iPhone City" with hundreds of thousands of workers.

However, the slowing growth of the smartphone market has forced Foxconn to find a new direction. According to Liu, in addition to AI, the company sees another potential market: electric vehicles. This year, Foxconn's chairman said that revenue from network and cloud products "will be close to" revenue from smart consumer electronics, including iPhones.

Also, at GTC 2025, Foxconn demonstrated the nursing robot Nurabot. "Nurabot is a robot that optimizes medical workflows and improves patient care," said a Foxconn representative. "The product is expected to be deployed in some hospitals in Taiwan by the end of the year."

The company also introduced several robot models for semiconductor manufacturing, integrating advanced image recognition technology and precision motion technology, providing smart and safe transportation solutions for the semiconductor industry. In addition, Foxconn launched the FoxBrain large language model focusing on three areas: smart manufacturing, smart electric vehicles and smart cities.
