The tech world is in shock over the sudden passing of Jong-Hee (JH) Han, Vice President and CEO of the Device Experience Division (DX Division) at Samsung Electronics. He passed away on March 25, at the age of 63, from a heart attack.
Reports indicate that Mr. Han suffered a cardiac arrest shortly after attending his daughter's wedding the previous Saturday (March 22). After the event, he was immediately transferred to the Samsung Medical Center in Seoul (South Korea) for treatment, but his condition gradually worsened and he passed away later.
37-year legacy at Samsung
In an internal announcement to employees, Samsung Electronics officially announced the passing of Mr. Han, expressing deep sorrow for the loss of a leader who devoted 37 years of his life to the company.
The company recognized his pivotal role in taking Samsung's global TV business to the number one position and his tireless efforts as the head of both the Appliances Division and the Digital Appliances (DA) Division, especially during difficult times domestically and internationally.
Mr. Han's journey at Samsung began in 1988, when he joined the Visual Display Division. This division is responsible for the design and sales of TVs, and it was in this specialized field that Mr. Han devoted the majority of his career, becoming a true TV expert for 33 years. In his early career, he held various roles within the company from 1988-2011, laying the foundation for his later leadership positions.
