Apple Researches 'Bold' iPhone Model for 20th Anniversary.

Apple is reportedly working on an iPhone with a “bold” change, such as a folding screen or special materials, to mark the 20th anniversary.

According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the iPhone 19 series will be Apple’s biggest project in the next few years. The company wants a “unique change” for the 20th anniversary of the iPhone in 2027. However, this means that this year’s iPhone 17 and next year’s iPhone 18 will not have too many major changes.

The iPhone 19's overhaul could be related to recent rumors that Apple is making a foldable phone. The project has reportedly been in the works for years, but the company has been holding back on releasing it because it wants to "mature" the foldable screen technology. It's unclear whether the company will only apply this mechanism to phones or to iPads released in the same year.

In addition to the foldable design, Apple could make a Pro iPhone model that "uses more glass." This could be the product that helps realize former design chief Jony Ive's dream of creating an iPhone made entirely of glass, according to Macrumors.

In addition, some sources also said that "Apple" could adjust the naming method to celebrate important milestones, such as iPhone 8 to iPhone X to celebrate the 10th anniversary. Therefore, the company could introduce iPhone 20 or apply a different naming rule for this occasion.

Previously in 2017, Apple created the iPhone X with a breakthrough in design to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the iPhone launch. This model removed the Home button and brought the edge-to-edge screen design to become a new trend of smartphones after that. The company at that time applied a screen folding mechanism to hide the connection cable and created a smartphone with thin bezels on all sides.
