The organizers of the 2025 Cannes Film Festival have just issued strict regulations on guests' attire, including banning nude or too elaborate outfits that can affect others.
Although many stars favor see-through and near-nude styles on the red carpet, Cannes strictly prohibits them due to the solemnity of the event. "To ensure politeness, nudity is prohibited on the red carpet as well as in any area of the film festival," the organizers announced on the website.
Previously, many guests, including famous stars, wore see-through dresses on the red carpet of the Cannes Film Festival. The revealing outfits caused a stir and were said to attract more attention from the audience than the films premiering at the Grand Théâtre Lumière.
The festival's new rules also do not welcome bulky outfits, "especially those with long skirts that impede the flow of guests and make it difficult to arrange seats in the theater". In the history of the famous French international film festival, many guests have impressed with outfits with meter-long skirts or with hoods and massive skirts. Last year, former lingerie angel Elsa Hosk, supermodel Heidi Klum, Miss World 2000 Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach... all wore evening gowns with wide flares and long, flowing skirts.
The organizers have made it clear that in case anyone does not comply with these regulations, the festival's reception team will be forced to deny them entry to the red carpet.
The recommended attire is evening wear such as a long dress or a tuxedo. In addition, guests can wear a little black dress, a cocktail dress, a dark-colored long suit, a luxurious blouse combined with black trousers, a black suit with a bow tie or tie. Regarding footwear, guests can wear sandals, high heels, or flats, but absolutely no sneakers. Cloth bags and backpacks are not allowed inside, and the organizers have lockers outside for guests to store their belongings.
The 78th Cannes Film Festival will take place from May 13 to 24 in Cannes, France.
