The iPhone 16 Pro and Pixel 9 lines are expected to use Samsung's most advanced panel technology that the Galaxy S24 Ultra does not have.
In addition to owning the best Android phones today, Samsung also produces top quality OLED panels, but that does not mean that all Samsung smartphones are equipped with the highest quality panels.
According to Phone Arena, Samsung's high-end screen product is the M14 OLED panel that will be used for the Google Pixel 9 series and the upcoming Apple iPhone 16 Pro duo.
Apple's 2024 Pro models and Google's entire upcoming lineup are expected to use M14 OLED technology. Samsung is one of the leaders in displays and produces the highest performance OLED displays using the most advanced new materials.
The company's most advanced monitors are part of the M series of monitors. Higher model numbers indicate higher quality monitors.
M14 technology will be introduced for the first time on the Pixel 9 series, which is expected to launch on August 13. In addition to the Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, and Pixel 9 Pro XL, the second-generation Pixel Fold is also rumored to use an M14 OLED display.
The iPhone 16 Pro and Pixel 9 series are rumored to have higher quality screens than the Galaxy S24 Ultra - the iPhone 16 Pro and Pixel 9 are said to be far ahead of the Galaxy S24 Ultra in terms of screen technology.
This will be the first such display product on a smartphone and it is expected to outperform existing technologies in terms of brightness and longevity.
It is expected that Apple will only use M14 OLED screen technology for the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max models, while the standard variants and Plus versions will continue to have the same M12 screen technology as the current generation.
iPhone 14 Pro Max as well as Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Flip 5 are also said to use M12 OLED screens. Official information about the screen technology used for Apple's new product line will likely be revealed at the September event.
According to a previous report, next year's iPhone 17 series will likely also stick with the M14 screen because each generation of material is usually used for two years.
Samsung's most advanced smartphone line today, the Galaxy S24 Ultra, uses the M13 panel. So, it's possible that the successor to this model, the Galaxy S25 Ultra, will use the M14 screen.
