Cristina Gheiceanu, from Switzerland, lost 7 kg by sending a voice message to ChatGPT every morning to ask the AI tool to calculate her maximum calorie intake for the day.
"I just send a voice message to ChatGPT every morning about what I'm going to eat, how many calories I want to eat that day, and it does everything. At first, I had to tell it the calories, protein, and fiber in the food I'm using. Next time, it remembers everything, so I just say what I'm having today. It knows how many calories or proteins are in yogurt or bread. I keep using the same chat, so it gets faster and easier every day," said the content creator, who has more than 400,000 followers on Instagram.
Cristina added that she sometimes sends ChatGPT pictures of her fridge so the app can suggest what she should eat and cook. "Honestly, it makes the whole process easier. No counting calories in my head, no stress. When I reach the desired number, I stop. It never feels like a diet, and that's why it works," the Swiss girl said.
Some people think that Cristina's way of applying AI to weight loss is a bit lazy because calculating calories is not complicated enough to rely on technology. On the contrary, many people commenting below Cristina's post said that they are also taking advantage of ChatGPT for the goal of controlling their eating and improving their figure.
“I used ChatGPT for my insulin resistance diet, and it was a game changer. I lost almost 11 pounds and fixed my insulin issues,” said one social media user.
Charley, a British woman living in Australia, shared that she had a daily calorie target of 1,800 but struggled to figure out what to eat to meet that energy level, so she turned to AI for help.
“I’m going to ask ChatGPT to write me a weekly meal plan of 1,800 calories a day and see what happens. It’s not foolproof, but it seems to work for me. You can try it if you’re a little lazy like me,” said Charley.
Thanks to the tool, Charley got a menu that included a 300-calorie bowl of Greek yogurt for breakfast, a 450-calorie chicken salad for lunch, and a 550-calorie grilled salmon with vegetables for dinner. The AI also recommended that Charley eat an apple with peanut butter for a 200-calorie snack.
However, Eilidh Wells, from Glasgow, did not achieve the same ideal results as Charley. She said she asked ChatGPT to suggest a 1,200-calorie menu with a high-protein, low-carb ratio to lose weight. The AI tool suggested she eat Greek yogurt for breakfast, grilled chicken with vegetables for dinner, and cucumbers and cottage cheese for a snack. "Everything was bland and the measurements were inaccurate, I felt like the recipe they gave me was for two people," Eilidh commented on the menu that ChatGPT suggested to her. Although she was not satisfied with the results that AI brought, she admitted that thanks to this tool, she knew that eating cucumbers with cottage cheese was quite delicious and "super filling".
In addition to using AI to plan meals, many people are also using the app to plan their workouts. Tia Taylor, 28, said she was able to "get in the best shape of her life" by using AI. Tia shared with ChatGPT that she goes to the gym three times a week, aiming to maintain her current muscle mass while continuing to build muscle, "especially in her upper body and shaping her waist". The app then created a specific workout plan for her by day, by type of exercise, and the number of sets she needed to do for each movement.
Some people also use AI to help them visualize what they would look like if they were thinner, to help motivate them on their journey to improve their figure. Laura, from Hampshire, is one of them. She said she lost around 30kg after using the app to show her what her body would look like if she lost weight successfully.
