Android 15 features that smartphone users should know.

Although there are no major changes in the interface, Android 15 still brings many improvements and new features to enhance the user experience.

In addition to popular advertised features such as satellite connection, gesture prediction, Android 15 also brings some notable features that many people may not know.

Turn Android smartphones into high-quality webcams.

Android 15 allows users to use smartphones as webcams for PCs with a new high-quality mode, significantly improving video quality over wired connections. However, users should note that the phone may heat up due to turning off some optimization features.

To use it, connect your phone to your PC via USB cable, tap the USB notification and select Webcam, then tap the HQ button in the upper left corner.

Limit charging to protect battery.

With the Optimized Charging feature, Android 15 allows users to limit battery charging to 80% to protect battery health over the long term.

To enable this feature, users go to Settings > Battery > Optimized Charging and turn on the Limit to 80% option, for example on a Google Pixel phone.

Hide device name from Wi-Fi networks.

Android 15 also introduces a privacy feature that allows users to hide their device name when connecting to public Wi-Fi networks. This helps protect privacy and prevent online activity tracking.

To enable it, go to Settings > Network & Internet. Then tap the gear icon next to the Wi-Fi network you’re connected to, select Privacy, and turn off Send device name. Tap Use random MAC for better security.

Create split-screen app pairs.

Android 15 lets you create shortcut icons for split-screen apps, making it easy to launch two apps with a single tap.

To do this, simply open two apps in split-screen mode, tap the app icon in the recent app's menu, and select “Save app pair.”

Enhanced protection against thieves.

Android 15 introduces new layers of security to prevent thieves from accessing personal data. If your device is stolen, you’ll still need to confirm the lock screen or sign in to your Google account to continue using it. This feature helps protect your device from being erased and reset.

The update also uses sensors and AI to detect whether the phone has been stolen, and then locks the screen immediately if there are signs of theft. This feature is not only available on Android 15 but has also been integrated into previous versions.

Set a third-party app as the default wallet.

Users can now choose their favorite wallet app instead of relying solely on Google Wallet. To change the default wallet app, users just need to go to Settings, select Apps, then tap Default Apps and select the desired wallet app.

These features not only save users time but also enhance device security, providing a better experience for Android 15 users.
