Royal fans have discovered an interesting detail in a portrait of the Princess of Wales painted by Prince Louis, showing how much the boy loves his mother.
On February 18, Kate shared portraits created by her three children, Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, 9, and Prince Louis, 6, in an effort to encourage parents to draw with their children.
Many fans were amazed by George's artistic talent, who created a portrait of Kate sitting in an armchair with delicate strokes. However, it was the attention to detail in Prince Louis' portrait that made fans admire. The portrait drawn by Louis, in red pencil, includes a mole above his right lip, a special detail on the face of the Princess of Wales.
The drawing was shared by the Welsh family on their X account, as part of Kate's campaign for children, emphasizing the importance of art in shaping children's development. Kate said: "Painting portraits with children can create a moment of connection where you spend time looking and focusing, being creative and - most importantly - having fun together!".
Under the post, one person commented: "Louis painted the most colorful picture of the four. What a great time with the kids Kate". Another said: "Louis is so adorable! What a loving little boy!". Another added: "So cute. Thanks for sharing".
Many royal fans also believe that Kate's children have inherited their artistic abilities from their mother, who studied History of Art at the University of St Andrews. "Capturing the spirit of a subject in a sketch is a special gift. George really has good genes from his mother," one fan wrote on X.
This is not the first time royal fans have seen Prince George's artwork. In December 2022, the royal couple shared their eldest son's reindeer painting on their Instagram account.
Artist Hannah Dale said George's work was "adorable" and that the British boy had an impressive ability with watercolors. Speaking to Hello! magazine at the time, the artist said: "I think his love of animals and his love of nature is obviously what attracted him. That inspires me a lot."
In February 2019, the Princess of Wales revealed that she loves creative activities with her children. During a visit to Lavender Primary School in Enfield, the mother of three said: "George found a piece of coal in the fireplace and said, 'Mummy, I'm going to paint a picture.' It's a great thing; they can try everything around them. It shows their creativity and can help them gain confidence. I loved art when I was at school. I still remember that time and I still love the skills I learned. So, I hope the children feel the same."
Kate was not the only influence on her children, however, as their grandfather was also an avid painter. King Charles III was encouraged to pursue his creative talents by his art tutor Robert Waddell while he was a student at Gordonstoun in Scotland. The king was later tutored by English artists such as Edward Seago and John Napier. The king painted mainly watercolors landscapes of royal residences and other beautiful places. King Charles III began selling prints of his watercolors in 1997 to raise money for charity.
