WWDC 2025 Could Be the End of the Road for Some iPhones, Experts Say.
Apple on Tuesday announced the dates for its Worldwide Developers Conference, where it will unveil software for its new iPhone, iPad, and Mac OS.
It is expected that Apple will launch a new operating system for iPhone - iOS 19. Therefore, about 1.4% of iPhone users will be able to use many new features. However, iPhone 11 and earlier models will be at a disadvantage because they will not be updated to the new operating system.
In fact, the old operating system version can still be used for several years. However, many streaming applications will require an updated iOS.
For example, the iPhone XR (released in 2018) is the oldest iPhone that still supports iOS 18, the latest iOS, released a year ago. However, the iPhone XR will not have hardware compatible with many new features.
According to experts, it is highly likely that the iPhone 11 will no longer support the new iOS19 - expected to be released on June 9.
Built for Apple Intelligence
“Built for Apple Intelligence” is shipped on some iPhone 16 models and some new iPhone 15 models (iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max). So WWDC 2025 will likely feature iPhones that don’t support Apple Intelligence — rendering the company’s AI software useless.
This year's WWDC will take place on June 9, 2025, with keynotes from Apple executives. Bloomberg reports that iPadOS 19 and macOS 16 may also be introduced at WWDC.
