Vivo Vision also uses a removable battery connected by wire, the camera system below can be used for hand gesture recognition.
The mixed reality glasses were introduced by Vivo at the Boao Forum 2025 in Hainan (China) which took place from March 25. However, the company has only displayed them, not announced specific parameters as well as price and release date. Most likely, the product will not be officially launched on the market until the end of this year.
Vivo Vision has a design with many curves similar to the Apple Vision Pro introduced in June 2023. The front of the device is black with a shiny material, a headband design that extends to the back and a removable battery connected by wire. The product may be more compact in size, without a front screen like the Vision Pro.
On the bottom edge of the glasses, there are camera clusters, indicating that this model is likely to integrate hand-controlled gesture recognition. On the Apple Vision Pro, users can use two fingertips to move the screen, select software or zoom in and out.
Mr. Hu Baishan, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Vivo, said that the Vision glasses are the company's initial achievement in establishing the Robotics Laboratory. This is a place to focus on research on large machine learning models, image processing technology and real-time spatial computing capabilities, helping to create "brains" and "eyes" for robots. Vivo Vision glasses are one of the first "robot products" for individuals and households from this lab.
The Vivo boss also commented that AI and robots are representing the pinnacle of technological achievements in the digital and physical worlds. However, they are operating relatively independently and are not perfectly connected. With a large number of users, smartphones with a strong ecosystem and multiple applications are potential factors to change this. "Robots will be the new future of the phone industry, playing the role of a bridge between the physical and digital worlds," said Mr. Hu.
At the event, Mr. Hu also introduced Vivo's other technological innovations such as the Blue Technology Matrix solution suite including BlueImage, BlueLM, BlueOS, BlueChip and BlueVolt, as well as advances in 6G mobile network research.
Vivo said it is the leader in the mobile phone market in China and serves more than 500 million users in more than 60 countries and territories globally. According to Counterpoint Research data in the fourth quarter of 2024, Vivo accounted for 8% of the global smartphone market share, behind only Apple, Samsung and Xiaomi.
