For many users, the battery is one of the most important factors of a smartphone, and Samsung customers are no exception.
To preserve the useful life of a smartphone, there are a number of measures that Samsung recommends. Based on the official post on Samsung's forum, here are some suggestions on the issue.
Adjust screen brightness and standby time correctly
Samsung said that leaving the phone at maximum brightness will cause the smartphone to consume more power. For this reason, users should only do this in situations where it is absolutely necessary.
Along with that, Samsung also hinted at a screen timeout limit. In fact, we are talking about the time the phone stays on without the user touching it. Users can adjust the timeout level to around 30 seconds instead of a few minutes, which can reduce battery life.
Close/uninstall unnecessary apps
Sometimes we install many apps on our smartphones, but they are not actually necessary. As Samsung explains: “Some apps can run background processes that drain your battery”. Therefore, users should uninstall apps that are no longer needed on their devices.
The process of uninstalling apps that are no longer needed is very simple. Just go to the home screen, tap on the app icon and click Uninstall.
Turn off Wi-Fi, Bluetooth or GPS when not needed
Samsung also recommends that users enable features that are only needed for temporary use, especially Wi-Fi, Bluetooth or GPS. These are all features that even when not in direct use affect the battery life of the smartphone. According to Samsung's explanation, "every time you check the signal frequently, it consumes energy", which is something that can be avoided.
Don't let the battery run out completely
A common misconception is that charging from 0% to 100% is wrong. The reason is that on more modern devices, this habit can affect battery life.
Samsung's advice is not to let the battery go below 20%. Conversely, users should also determine the maximum load value. A recent study by Battery University even showed that the best option is to charge from 20% to 80%.
To set the maximum load value, follow these steps: Go to Settings > Modes and habits > Habits. Select “+” and a page will appear with two options “If” and “Then”. In the “If” option, click “+” and confirm that the wired and wireless charging options are enabled. When done, click Done.
Click “+” again in “If” and look for the “Battery Level” option. Under “Battery Level”, the user will see the “Below” option. This is where the user can determine the percentage at which he can charge the phone. When done, click “Done”. Go to “Then” and click “+”, select “Battery Protection”, “On” and “Maximum”.
After performing all these steps, the user should mark “Done” to complete the task.
Keep your phone in the right temperature
Another related tip from Samsung, especially as the weather heats up, is to be careful when storing your Galaxy phone. As the brand explains, extreme temperatures (as well as extreme low temperatures) can be quite damaging to the battery’s lifespan. Overheating can accelerate the wear and tear on the battery and other internal components.
