Carousel view removed from iOS 18 Beta 5 update after receiving negative feedback from users.

At WWDC 2024 held in early June, Apple described the Photos app update as "the biggest ever, helping users relive special moments". However, this was one of the biggest controversies when the company started letting users use the wide test version of iOS 18 from July 16.

Carousel view only lasted three weeks on iOS 18 beta.

The new view called Carousel allows you to swipe left or right to see highlights updated by day, based on people, pets, favorite places, etc. However, many people complained that it was too complicated to use. "It looks fresh and modern but completely useless," one person commented on Reddit. Similar opinions also appeared on Apple's support page.

According to Macrumors, too many criticisms may have forced Apple to change its mind. In the latest update iOS 18 beta 5, the Carousel view disappeared from the Photos app. In addition, the company also adjusted the location of the Albums folder as well as refined the All-Photos view with more photos without users having to swipe down.

Apple has always been famous for its ability to guide users' usage habits. It is rare for the company to remove a feature that has been researched and developed for a long time after only three weeks of testing.

iOS 18 Public Beta started to be downloaded from July 16 with many important upgrades such as changing Control Center, adding lock screen features, supporting RCS messaging, customizing the home screen with many different styles. The iOS 18.1 Beta version then started to let users try out some features of Apple Intelligence but only when users switch regions to the US and with certain devices such as iPhone 15 Pro, 15 Pro Max, iPad Pro.
